Who we are

We are an independent family owned Company that have been in the funeral business / service for over 120 years. We have been serving the people of Kidderminster, Stourport on Severn, Bewdley and the surrounding areas of the West Midlands during this time. We have an excellent reputation built up over  considerable years with many families having used us previously then return when in need of our services. We are very proud of our business and all our staff are dedicated to providing a first class service with everyone taking an immense pride in what we do and with our precise attention to detail. We also offer a compassionate and caring service in particular looking after the people and families we serve. Something we are also proud about is our achievements in winning national awards for our customer service.

What is involved

With the high cost in the UK for the traditional or special funeral we have decided to create a new service that we believe offers a funeral with dignity and respect but, importantly, the cost is much lower than we’ve ever offered before in all our years in the funeral service. We acknowledge that times are difficult and stressful and we believe offering a low cost funeral will still provide a dignified funeral for a loved one but with a reasonable and more affordable cost.

How we offer this alternative option is by the funeral having to be one whereby, in the case of cremation, no one including family will be able to attend the funeral at the crematorium and there will be no Minister of any denomination present. In the case of a burial (at Kidderminster Cemetery), it is slightly different as both family and friends will be able to attend at graveside only but again there will be no Minister in attendance. However, whether the funeral is for a cremation or burial we will provide the availability of our Chapel of Rest for family and friends to pay their last respects.

Costing

Our low cost funeral service will guarantee to provide:

• All our professional services and making and organising promptly all the necessary arrangements.

• Bringing the person who has passed away to our Chapel of Rest (to be arranged during office hours only).

• All documents will be prepared ready for the next of kin to sign and return to us.

• Caring and presentation of the person who has died including dressing in a traditional robe.

• Providing a quality oak effect traditional coffin with all fittings and linings.

• Chapel of Rest visits.

• Cremation or burial in local Crematorium / Cemetery with our own Pall Bearers.

In addition the total cost will cover:

• Fees and charges at Crematorium / Cemetery. 

• In the case of cremation only, the cost for two medical practitioners’s to prepare and sign a cremation document this being a legal requirement needed for the cremation to take place

The total inclusive cost for our low cost funeral service will be £1999.00

Please note, we are able to offer a low cost funeral into a pre paid funeral plan but this will be at a slightly higher price due to administration costs outside our control. We are happy to provide further details upon application to us.

Edwin Harris & Sons Ltd is a member of a professional organisation called the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (S.A.I.F) and follows strictly the terms and condition contained within their Code of Practice.
